5. Architecture

The design of PropertyAssist allows integrated enquiries across spatial, textual and image systems in a scalable system accessed from a Web browser. Legacy system integration and navigation by spatial browsing are unique features of the design. The framework is extensible to new business applications and to include additional information sources whether they be geospatial (vector or raster), databases (relational or otherwise), or existing legacy systems.

The PropertyAssist framework allows a data custodian to provide access to published services (or business objects) incorporating correct business logic rather than a direct connection to a database (raw data).

The benefits of the client application design arise from the visualisation via spatial browsing with multiple spatial themes, and from the assured links to the authoritative and most up-to-date information sources.
